Telluride vintage wood ski sign is made with reclaimed wood and painted individually by artist Charles Jerred. Mentored by his father, a master engraver, Jerred has developed a knack for creating unique and rustic looking signs honoring a number of different ski locations. The uniqueness of these pieces of art comes from the reclaimed wood and hand painting. No two signs are exactly alike. The sign is 14 wide x 28 tall and represents the backcountry skiing that Telluride, Colorado is known for. The four mountain peaks rising about the word America are cleverly shaded to reflect the shape of the fir trees commonly found in Colorado backcountry. Telluride, Colorado was originally founded as a silver mining camp. The town is named after gold telluride minerals that were rumored to exist in the mountains above. Ironically, no gold was ever actually mined in Telluride. Around the time the last mining carts rolled out of the mountains, Telluride experienced a rebirth as a popular skiing destination. This vintage sign is perfect for any skier or snowboarder who calls Telluride Ski Resort their home mountain. Its representation of Backcountry America makes this sign perfect for any enthusiast who has experienced the deep, fluffy powder in Telluride's legendary backcountry.
